Sheldon Lavin: Expanding OSI’s global reach

Sheldon Lavin is the brains behind OSI Group that has spanned over the last 100 years. OSI was originally founded in 1909 by Otto Kolschowsky. OSI Group was originally a meat market in Chicago. Today, Sheldon Lavin has grown into a much larger company spreading its reach across the globe with more than 65 locations. Sheldon Lavin is focused on food safety, green practices and sustainability. Sheldon Lavin has been a well established investor businessman who has spent years in the banking industry as a financial executive. Sheldon Lavin attributes his success to his winning mentality and his continued climb on the aldder of success. However, Sheldon Lavin’s success in meat industry was not seen as strongly possible.

OSI has been known for its close relationship with McDonald’s. They were one of its leading burger providers. Sheldon Lavin took OSI Group to new places and growing the company into a worldwide provider of food products to a wide range of international companies. OSI Group and Sheldon Lavin are pleased to have a staff of over 20,000 employees around the world, making the company a global powerhouse. Sheldon Lavin, creates a family-oriented culture to compensate for him not being able to connect with all the employees of the company. Around 1975, Sheldon Lavin became a key part of the operations and continued to help grow company and expanded its reach into untapped markets in South Africa, Taiwan and South America. In 2014, Sheldon Lavin paired up with Pickstock in the United Kingdom which allowed OSI Group to expand its meat distribution across Europe. Sheldon Lavin also made deals with a Canadian food service company. Sheldon Lavin made an acquisition of a Tyson production plant in Chicago for $7.4 million, allowing him a plant to be near one of OSI’s main facilities. The Tyson plant provides an incredibly large amount of space, allowing for more growth. In 2016, Sheldon Lavin bought controlling stake in Baho Food, which is based in Europe and allows OSI to have a larger presence in Europe.
